Designer Talk: Future Frontiers by Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello
Free refreshments are provided.
For the final ATTENTION Series presentation at Rocky Mountian College of Art + Design, partners Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello will share recent projects such as the Casa Covida and the Cabin of 3D Printed Curiosities and discuss how these projects grew out of a wider body of research around the development of future materials for 3D printing. They will also share their work at the frontier between the United States and Mexico which is both a protest against the border wall and a collection of counterproposals to the existence of the wall.
ABOUT RAEL SAN FRATELLO Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello draw, build, 3D print, teach, and write about architecture and design as a cultural endeavor deeply influenced by craft traditions and contemporary technologies. They are the founding partners in the Oakland-based make-tank Emerging Objects. They also speculate about the social agency of design, particularly along the borderlands between the USA and Mexico, in their studio RAEL SAN FRATELLO. You can see their drawings, models, and objects in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, the Design Museum London, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
